![]() ![]() (Apparently, most writers have something against dogs and mothers. ![]() If it’s a really meaningful book, both his dog and his mother will die. In fact, the lad will not go on an adventure or fight against anything at all. (Words like meaningful and thoughtful are other good clues.) If there is a boy in these kinds of books, he will not go on an adventure to fight against Librarians, paper monsters, and one-eyed Dark Oculators. ![]() I felt this would work because it played into the themes of Alcatraz being honest about his past, mixed with his feelings of failure. But then the sixth book will be from the viewpoint of his bodyguard, continuing the story and giving the real ending. Perhaps, even, you have been given books by friends, parents, or teachers, then told that these books are the type you “have to read.” Those books are invariably described as “important” – which, in my experience, pretty much means that they’re boring. This will show exactly why he thinks of himself the way he does. Perhaps you have had other kinds of books recommended to you. I realize the difficulty you must have gone through to obtain it – after all, no Librarian is likely to recommend it, considering the secrets it exposes about their kind.Īctually, my experience has been that people generally don’t recommend this kind of book at all. ![]() “Hushlanders, I’d like to take this opportunity to commend you for reading this book. ![]() ![]() Renard found them, threatened them and Ama easily agreed to marry him after all the trouble just because she knew she can't fight to kill them. From the start, the author has been describing Ama as this ruthless and fearless princess, only to not meet the expectation towards the end. I find none of the characters revolutionary. ![]() I was reading and waiting for the story to develop but it was painfully deliberate. It felt almost repetitive every time and making it hard for me to get into. The Princess Will Save You has 53 short chapters sure, but imagine taking eight chapters just to talk about the king's death, but without much going on. However, this entire storyline was quite bland and it took me a long time to finish it. ![]() I am not a fan of slow-paced books, but I do find some of them that worked well. My first problem with the book is that the plot ran a bit slowly for me, especially in the beginning. And I don't know if this contributed to one of the reasons as to why I didn't find myself enjoying this. Not sure if I have to know how the Princess Bride goes since I never read the book nor have I watched the movie (I'm just not a tv person in general) so, I had a hazy sense of how the book will be. ![]() Decided to read this one because I get to know that this is a gender-bent of the Princess Bride retelling. ![]() ![]() ![]() While it’s been a few years since he’s done long-form interior work, he hasn’t missed a beat with Full Circle. For his latest work, the graphic novel Fantastic Four: Full Circle, Ross has tried something different, trading Rockwell for a 1960s pop art aesthetic.įor the past few years, Ross has mostly been working as a cover artist on Marvel titles like Black Panther, Captain America and Immortal Hulk, which has resulted in some of his career-best work. The artist behind comics like DC’s Kingdom Come and Marvel’s, uh, Marvels, Ross’ beautifully painted pages are the combination of Norman Rockwell-esque realism with the colourful spandex of superheroes. There are some popular tropes used there which are dead wrong, if one knew something about the topic. The only small beef I had with the book is the characterization of a Marine brother, which wasn't up to the standards of the rest of the book. Personally I have trouble identifying with people who make such bad decisions, but it is a pleasant enough read and told well. The music from "Little Shop of Horrors" played in the background of my mind as I read it, "Feed Me! Seymour!"
